LASER SAFETY AND CERTIFICATION

In-house accredited self certification capabilities

Knowledge and Experience

Decades of experience in the laser industry as well as a profound knowledge of IEC 60825-1 norms have allowed us to become experts in laser safety optimization. This is a critical advantage for our customers as we are able to supply laser illumination with significantly higher output powers while maintaining a lower safety class than previously thought possible.

Beam Shaping Optimization

Osela laser pattern projectors be it a uniform laser line or more complex Random Pattern Matrix can be optimized to achieve peak power for a given safety class. Our in-house laser safety experts can evaluate system level classification and maximize laser performance accordingly.

C6 Factor

The C6 factor is an important component of IEC 60825-1 norm that can be exploited to optimize laser safety power for a given pattern. Osela’s laser safety experts are able to evaluate specific laser configurations to identify the C6 factor and apply it for significant power output gains for our customers. Optical power gains of more than five times are readily achieveable by considering this factor.

Pulse Factor

Most vision systems have short aquisition times. This allows for the laser illumination to be pulsed in sync during aquisition. With an analysis of specific operating conditions of the system in terms of laser ON time and OFF time, combined with extensive knowledge and application of IEC 60825-1 norm, a specific value of pulsed condition factor can be determined. The nominal output power for a given safety class can then be multiplied by this factor for significant output power gains.
